Golf Swing Mechanics

By admin, July 2, 2010 12:51 pm

An aspect of golf swing mechanics that many amateurs overlook is the position of the left wrist at impact. The left wrist should ideally mirror the position of the club face at impact. Often, high handicap golfers have impact positions where their left wrists are bent backwards. This causes them to scoop the ball or to have an open club face, which produces high, sliced shots. At impact, the lead wrist should ideally be flat or slightly bowed. The wrist of the trailing hand should be bent. The resulting effect is that the hands are placed in front of the club head, leading to the golf ball being hit with a descending blow, which is a crucial element in golf swing mechanics for hitting high, crisp, and powerful iron shots.

Never too old to learn

The game of golf is a great one because it lends itself to just about everyone. You don’t have to be a super athlete or in your athletic prime to play a great round. In fact, many consider golf to be the best of all of the “life sports”, given how easy it is to get out for a round. If you want to play the game well as you enter the senior circuit, then lessons should be on your mind.

Seniors golf instruction is available through many club professionals. Whether you are just learning the game or you have been playing for years, seniors golf instruction can help you hit the ball straighter. Some people think that once you have learned a swing, it is impossible to re-learn better techniques. This is patently false, and seniors golf instruction will prove that point.

drop strokes from your golf score

By admin, June 30, 2010 1:24 pm

Since it can be played by people of all ages and ability, golf is quite possibly the most popular sport in the world. However, while it is very popular, it can also be quite frustrating when not played well. Luckily, through a professional lesson, you could easily drop strokes from your golf score and enjoy the game even more.

The main way that a professional golf lesson will help you drop strokes from your golf score is by improving your stroke. While hitting an unmoving golf ball may seem easy to do in theory, it in fact can be a fairly difficult thing to do. Through a professional lesson, you will learn the techniques needed to hit the ball consistently with both power and accuracy.

Basic Golf Swing Instruction

By admin, June 29, 2010 2:03 pm

Looking for some simple golf swing instruction? Begin by establishing the correct positioning by putting the ball off your left heel, assuming you swing right handed. Bend at your waist and let your harms hang naturally down, flexing your knees slightly a bit for an athletic feel. Bring the club back in a slow, smooth and fluid back swing, not “breaking” your wrist, and keeping your left eye on the ball. Remember, the back swing is the key to all hitting power in golf! Do not think of trying to hit hard or quickly, only try to make contact with the ball as your hips turn and your weight shifts to your left foot. There you go, straight down the fairway!

A Cheap Golf Swing Trainer

By admin, June 28, 2010 1:27 pm

Buying a golf swing trainer can cost a small fortune, but one of the best golf swing trainers can be made at home for very little money. All that is required is either an old golf shaft or a straight stick that measures about 3-4 feet in length. This golf swing trainer will allow golfer to develop the proper swing plane. A swing plane that is too steep will result in fat shots and slices, while a swing plane that is too shallow will result in thin shots and hooks. In order to groove the perfect swing plane, a stick or old shaft can be placed in the ground 18 inches behind the golfer at the same angle as the club shaft at address. In the swing, if the club touches the stick from above, the plane is too steep. Ideally, the shaft should pass just underneath the stick.

Using a PGA Golf Book to Improve Your Game

By admin, June 25, 2010 11:46 am

Improving our golf game is something we love to work at, but it’s important for golfers to look at every possible resource when finding advice.

For this reason, it’s one thing to go find a golf pro for instruction or pick up a magazine, but many golfers ignore getting a PGA golf book, even though it has contributions and advice for the top players.

An officially sanctioned book not only provides some of the absolute best advice, it also is carefully cultivated so that the PGA feels comfortable putting their name and brand on the cover.

There’s a lot of bad advice available to golfers so getting the advantage of a PGA golf book just makes the learning process easier.

Beginners Golf Lessons

By admin, June 24, 2010 3:09 pm

Beginners golf lessons are designed to gradually introduce the new player to the game while building essential skills. One of the most things that you will learn is the proper way to swing a club, including how to: stand, position the club, use the right grip and handle the swing. You will learn other basic fundamentals involved with telling the different clubs apart, when to use them, and how to understand the game’s rules. Your instructor will show you how each procedure is done and then help you to practice the new skill properly. Beginners golf lessons are an excellent way to get introduced to the game.

Managing the Golf Course

By admin, June 21, 2010 1:03 pm

One of the most critical aspects in the game of golf is learning to manage the golf course. Matching your skills with what the golf course gives (or does not give) is a giant step toward shooting lower scores. Many local golf pros offer golf course instruction. For several holes (normally a par 3, 4, and 5 at least), the pro will teach you how to manage the golf course with the shots you are capable of making. Simply learning how to stay out of trouble provides a huge boost. Golf course instruction opens your mind to understanding where you need to put the ball and that going for the pin or the huge drive is not always the best option. Obtaining a couple golf course instruction lessons will improve your management skills.

Golf Driving Tips

By admin, June 18, 2010 12:29 pm

One of the best tips for driving the golf ball and keeping it into play is to learn to hit the power fade. A power fade is a ball flight where the golf ball starts to the left and then gently curves back to the right, landing in the fairway. The fade is a great ball flight for driving because it soars high, lands softly, and is easier to control than a straight shot or a draw. Follow these tips in order to start driving your ball with a fade:

1. Aim slightly to the left to compensate for the curvature.
2. Take your normal grip.
3. Open the club face slightly. You will need to experiment to find the right amount.
4. Swing normally, down the line where your feet are pointed.

The ball should start left and then curve back to the middle, leaving you in perfect position for the next shot.
