Practical Golf Instruction will Aid Seniors
Senior golf instruction begins with the realization that physical abilities disintegrate insidiously during life’s golden years. Golf is a game of hand-eye coordination and time takes its toll in this area.
Seniors can still play at a high level; the biggest handicap is the loss of distance on all shots, but that can be offset with a better use of equipment and diligent practice on the short game.
Seniors should discard their long irons (3-iron, 4-iron, and 5-iron) in favor of the new hybrids that are available in golf shops and pro shops. The hybrids are much easier to hit and will be of inestimable value to seniors.
Senior instruction should impart the knowledge that they have to use more club on most shots—be realistic about your distance.
